Take action

Last year, the Queensland Government overrode its own Human Rights Act to introduce legislation that makes it legal to keep children in adult watch houses indefinitely.

Watch houses are designed to hold adults for one to two days. Children are being kept in them for weeks.

There are accounts of children in watch houses not being fed or clothed properly, being held near adult prisoners, being abused by police and being sexually assaulted.

96 per cent of Queensland children who are imprisoned reoffend within 12 months of their release.
Watch houses are unsafe for Queensland’s children and our community.

Please email the Premier.

Ask him to get Queensland children out of watch houses.
